Privacy policy

Miam Certificate Quest ("we", "us") runs miam.quest, a free site that helps separating parents in England and Wales prepare for a MIAM. This policy explains what information we keep, why, who helps us process it, and how to ask us to see or delete it.

Who we are

Miam Certificate Quest is a free "AI for Good" project run by the team behind Fractional Quest. We do not charge for anything on this site. For anything about your information, email hello@fractional.quest.

What we keep

If you tell Miam about abuse or a safety concern, Miam gives you support information and does not offer to save it as a fact on your record.

If you just read the guides

Nothing about you. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser and the page requested) to run and secure the site.

If you talk to Miam without an account

What you type or say to Miam is saved against a random identifier stored in a cookie on your device, so the conversation is still there when you come back. We do not know who you are from it.

If you create an account

  • Your email address and name, for signing in
  • Your conversations with Miam
  • The facts and priorities you choose to save to your record (for example your must-haves and red lines for the children)

Why we use it

We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share your mediation preparation with the other parent or anyone else except the processors below, or where the law requires it.

  • To let Miam answer you and help you prepare for your MIAM
  • To keep your conversation and record so you can come back to them
  • To keep the site working, secure and free of abuse (for example rate limits)

Cookies

We use essential cookies only. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

  • miam_visitor: keeps your conversation with Miam if you do not have an account (lasts up to a year)
  • miam_from: remembers which guide you came from, so Miam can pick up the topic (lasts six hours)
  • Sign-in cookies: keep you signed in, only if you create an account
  • Your choice on our cookie notice is kept in your browser's local storage

You can delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Without them, Miam cannot keep an unsigned conversation.

Who processes it for us

  • Vercel: hosts the website, and its AI Gateway passes your messages to the AI model that writes Miam's replies
  • The AI model provider: receives your messages through Vercel's AI Gateway to generate each reply
  • Railway: hosts the service that runs Miam
  • Neon: our database and sign-in provider, where conversations and records are stored
  • Hume AI: processes your voice, only if you choose to talk to Miam by voice

Each processes information under its own privacy terms and only to provide its service to us.

Keeping it safe

Information is encrypted in transit, and a conversation saved against a visitor cookie can only be read with that cookie. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, so please do not share more than you need to prepare.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete your conversations, record and account
  • Stop or restrict using your information

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
